Augusta is the capital city of the U.S. state of Maine and the county seat of Kennebec County, the twelfth most populous city in Maine and the easternmost state capital in the United States. It is the principal city of the Augusta-Waterville micropolitan statistical area and is home to the University of Maine at Augusta.
