Cheyenne is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Wyoming, established in 1867 as a junction along the Union Pacific Railroad in what was then Dakota Territory and named after the Cheyenne people. Its economy centers on government services, transportation and military operations, particularly Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, and the city hosts Cheyenne Frontier Days, described as the largest outdoor rodeo and western festival in the world.
