Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte is the legislative capital city of Sri Lanka, and a suburb of the largest city and former capital, Colombo. Sri Lanka formally changed its administrative capital from Colombo to Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte in 1982, marked by the inauguration of the Parliament building on 29 April 1982.
