Bangladesh is a country in South Asia on the Bay of Bengal. It is surrounded almost entirely by India, and shares a small border with Myanmar to its southeast, while lying close to Nepal, Bhutan and China. Bangladesh gained independence from Pakistan in 1971. Its capital and largest city is Dhaka.
