Morocco, officially the Kingdom of Morocco, has coastlines on the Mediterranean Sea to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and land borders with Algeria to the east. Following intermittent riots and revolts against colonial rule, Morocco's protectorate status under France ended on 2 March 1956 and the country regained its independence and reunified under the leadership of Sultan Mohammed V. Its capital is Rabat.
