Sweden, formally the Kingdom of Sweden, is a Nordic country on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe, bordering Norway to the west and north and Finland to the east. Historians typically trace the line of Swedish monarchs from the tenth century, when Svealand and Gotaland came to be ruled under the same king, with no single clean founding date recorded, unlike a colonial independence. Its capital is Stockholm.
