Nevada is a landlocked state in the Western United States, sometimes placed in the Mountain West and Southwestern United States, bordering Idaho to the northeast, Oregon to the northwest, California to the west, Arizona to the southeast and Utah to the east. Admitted to the Union in 1864 as the 36th state, its capital is Carson City.
