Serbia is a landlocked country in Southeastern and Central Europe, bordered by Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. Its current statehood dates to the 2006 restoration of independence following the peaceful dissolution of its union with Montenegro, tracing earlier statehood to the Principality of Serbia's 1815 autonomy. Its capital is Belgrade.
